Bunion Sleeve Best Fit

The Size Guide is based on average foot width. If your shoe size is at the top of the range for a size and your foot is wider than average, you may need the next size up. If your shoe size is at the bottom of the range for a size and your foot is narrower than average, you may need the next size down. Feet come in all shapes and sizes, regardless of shoe size. The fit should be snug, not too tight and not loose. The toe hole should fit over the middle of the big toe so that the toe does not push through the hole.

The Bunion Sleeve® may not be suitable for more advanced bunions as the joint in the big toe may be stiff preventing the big toe from gently realigning. We recommend the Bunion Sleeve® for mild to moderate bunions. Seek advice from your podiatrist if you are not sure.

After wearing the Bunion Sleeve®, the material will start to relax. In time it may feel looser but this will not compromise the Bunion Sleeve®’s effectiveness. The Bunion Sleeve® is made of two layers so over time, and depending on the amount of care taken, the material may fray slightly in some places, but the functionality of the Bunion Sleeve® will not be affected. Like anything worn, normal daily wear and tear will obviously cause the Bunion Sleeve® to deteriorate over time. We offer a returning customers discount for future orders so please email us for the code.

Please do not walk around with the Bunion Sleeve® without shoes or socks.  When putting the Bunion Sleeve® on, please be gentle. The product is comfortable because it is made from soft textured materials and is very thin. Be careful not to pull too tightly.

If the fit is not right for you, please return the unworn Bunion Sleeve® for immediate free exchange.

FAQ

Can Bunion Sleeve® cure my bunion?

Bunion Sleeve® can relieve the pain caused by mild to moderate bunions and will help to protect the bunion from the effects of shoes, but it will not cure a bunion. However, Bunion Sleeve® may prevent advancement of the bunion.

What should I expect when I first wear Bunion Sleeve®?

If the correct size is chosen, most customers report that Bunion Sleeve® feels comfortable. It should not be too tight or loose in any place. Bunion Sleeve® will apply gentle pressure, realigning the big toe. The hole in the toe is designed to help to prevent too much pressure building up. We recommend wearing Bunion Sleeve® for a few hours at a time until you get used to it. If you want to wear Bunion Sleeve® while you are asleep you might prefer a slightly larger size. Wearing a smaller size during exercise often works well.

Does Bunion Sleeve® fit on either foot?
Why is there a hole?

The hole is an extremely important factor in the effectiveness of Bunion Sleeve®. Without the hole there is a risk of too much pressure building up. The hole releases the pressure which could otherwise cause pain. The hole should be positioned in the middle of the big toe. You might need to gently twist Bunion Sleeve® so that it is positioned correctly.

Is Bunion Sleeve® machine-washable?

No. Bunion Sleeve® is made of very delicate fibres and carefully constructed in two layers in order to be effective. Although Bunion Sleeve® will suffer normal wear and tear, hand washing will extend its life considerably. Simply hand wash with a natural soap in cold water and allow to air dry. This can be done every day so that you can enjoy wearing a fresh Bunion Sleeve® in the morning and at night again before bed.

How do I put on Bunion Sleeve®?

The packaging includes instructions on how to put on Bunion Sleeve®. You can also see our How to Wear Guide.

How should I position Bunion Sleeve® on my foot?

The seam on Bunion Sleeve® should be on the top of your foot with the pressure release hole in the middle of your big toenail. Please make sure your toenails are neatly trimmed.

Bunion Sleeve® looks too thin to be effective so I’m not sure if it will work for me?

The beauty of Bunion Sleeve® is that it is scientifically designed to be as light weight as possible, while maintaining gentle pressure. We recommend Bunion Sleeve® for mild to moderate bunions so if you have a more advanced bunion, you might find your big toe joint has become too stiff to be realigned. If this is the case, seek your doctors advice. Bunion Sleeve® is made of materials similar to those used for burns - Nylon and Polyurethane. It provides protection from rubbing and helps your big toe to realign so that it is not pushing the other toes. Although the material is effective you should still avoid wearing shoes that are too tight around the bunion.

Does Bunion Sleeve® aid in post-surgery recovery?

Yes, we have had great feedback from customers post-surgery who have used Bunion Sleeve® to help keep the big toe in place during recovery. Wearing Bunion Sleeve® post-surgery can help to prevent the bunion from returning. If you are unsure, seek the advice of your doctor.

Can I wear Bunion Sleeve® while I sleep?

Yes! Bunion Sleeve® can be very effective while you sleep, but you might prefer to try the next size up so that not too much pressure is applied. Also wear Bunion Sleeve® for a while until you are used to it before keeping it on for extended periods. Eventually you can wear your Bunion Sleeve® all day and night for maximum effect but we would recommend buying two Bunion Sleeves® and hand washing each day so that you can wear a fresh one in the morning and at night.

Can I exercise wearing Bunion Sleeve®?

Yes! Many of our customers are avid sports people who find Bunion Sleeve® allows them to work even harder. For walking, running and any constant form of exercise on your feet you might like to try the next size down for even more support. When you’ve finished exercising your normal size will take into account any swelling as you relax.

How long will my Bunion Sleeve® last?

Like anything worn, normal daily wear and tear will obviously cause Bunion Sleeve® to deteriorate over time. The more you wear and wash Bunion Sleeve®, the more it will suffer wear and tear. We find that Bunion Sleeve® can last from 3 to 12 months, depending on how much it is worn and how carefully it is treated.

Is there any reason why Bunion Sleeve® would not be suitable for me?

If your bunion is too advanced you might find the joint in your big toe is too stiff to allow Bunion Sleeve® to realign the big toe. Bunion Sleeve® is not recommended for people who are diabetic or have poor circulation.

What material is Bunion Sleeve® made from?

Bunion Sleeve® is made from two thin layers of polyurethane and nylon, similar to the materials used for treating burns. The fabric may loosen slightly after a few wears and washes, but it will remain completely effective.

Can I purchase Bunion Sleeve® in stores?

No. Currently Bunion Sleeve® is only available online through our website and on our Amazon store.

other helpful information

Bunions are a common foot condition characterised by a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe. This bump, which is actually an enlargement of the bone or tissue around the joint, can cause the big toe to angle inwards towards the other toes. This can lead to pain, discomfort, and difficulty walking.

Bunions are caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, arthritis, and certain types of shoes that don't fit properly. Women are more likely to develop bunions than men.

Treatment options for bunions include non-surgical methods such as wearing comfortable shoes and using padding or inserts to reduce pressure on the affected joint. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to correct the deformity and alleviate pain.

If you suspect you have a bunion, it's a good idea to see a podiatrist (foot doctor) for an evaluation. They will be able to diagnose the condition and recommend the best course of treatment for you.

Bunion correctors are devices that are worn on the foot to help alleviate pain and reduce the progression of bunions. They work by realigning the toe and reducing pressure on the affected joint.

There are several different types of bunion correctors available, including splints, sleeves, and straps. Some are worn during the day, while others are worn at night.

Splints are worn over the toe and work by gently pulling the big toe back into its correct position. Sleeves are worn around the foot and work by cushioning and protecting the bunion. Straps are worn around the toe and work by keeping the toe in its correct position.

Bunion correctors can be effective in reducing pain and discomfort caused by bunions, but they do not cure the condition. It's important to note that they should be used in conjunction with other
treatments, such as wearing comfortable shoes, using padding or inserts, and exercising to strengthen the muscles in the foot.

If you are experiencing pain and discomfort related to bunions, it is important to see a podiatrist for an evaluation. They can help you determine the best course of treatment for your specific condition, including whether or not bunion correctors would be helpful for you.

Bunion surgery, also known as bunionectomy, is a surgical procedure that is used to correct the deformity caused by a bunion. The goal of the surgery is to remove the bony bump and realign the big toe to its correct position.

There are several different types of bunion surgery, each with its own specific indications and risks.

The most common type of bunion surgery is called a bunionectomy. This procedure involves making an incision in the skin at the base of the big toe, removing the bony bump, and realigning the bones of the big toe.

The procedure can be performed using either a traditional open technique or a minimally invasive technique.

Another type of bunion surgery is called an osteotomy, it involves cutting and repositioning the bone in order to realign the big toe. The procedure can be performed using either a traditional open technique or a minimally invasive technique.

Recovery time can vary depending on the type of procedure and the patient's overall health, but it typically takes several weeks to several months for the foot to fully heal. Physical therapy may be required to help the patient regain strength and range of motion in the foot.

It's important to note that surgery is usually reserved for cases where non-surgical treatments have failed to provide adequate relief from pain and symptoms. If you have a bunion and are considering surgery, it's important to consult with a podiatrist or an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation, to determine if surgery is the best option for your specific case.

Bunion surgery is a highly effective treatment for bunions, but it's not the only option. There are several non-surgical alternatives that can be used to alleviate pain and slow the progression of the condition.

It's important to note that non-surgical treatments may not be as effective as surgery in treating bunions, but they may help manage the symptoms and slow the progression of the condition. It's best to consult with a podiatrist or an orthopedic surgeon to determine the best course of treatment for your specific case.
